AI Beyond Tech

With over a decade of experience in engineering leadership and applied software engineering, Ludovic Andreas Toth, Loli to most of us, is a Technical Manager and AI Engineering Lead at Victory Square Partners, where he leads engineering teams and takes software and AI products from idea to production. His work sits at the crossroads of engineering leadership and applied AI. He is particularly interested in how teams turn emerging technologies into reliable, useful products, and how engineering practices and organizational design need to evolve alongside them. At heart, Loli is a builder and a curious person who genuinely enjoys figuring things out, whether that means exploring a new technology, solving a difficult engineering problem, or helping a team find a better way of working together. He is also part of the Advisory Board for AI at the Faculty of Informatics, Politehnica University Timișoara. Val Mureșan is an entrepreneurial figure in Timișoara known for his contributions to digitalization and smart city initiatives. As personal advisor to the Mayor of Timișoara, he plays a central role in advancing the city's digital infrastructure. His early entrepreneurial work includes co-founding the first R&D office of Movidius in Timișoara, later acquired by Intel, a team behind edge-AI innovations such as the Vision Processing Unit and Neural Processing Unit architectures used in the Myriad X processor for high-performance, low-power AI. Following the acquisition, Val continued as country manager of Intel Romania, helping integrate Movidius technology into Intel's product ecosystem and driving innovation in edge computing. He has also co-founded several organizations that shape the region's economic and cultural life, including the Banat IT Association, Community Foundation Timișoara, the FABER cultural center, Growceanu Angel Investors Club, and more recently the ABQ institute, focused on the impact of deep technologies on the future of humanity. Lucas Velimirovici works at the point where energy markets meet applied AI. A PhD researcher at West University of Timișoara, part of a solar energy research group, he is also an energy trader and renewables analyst who spends his days head to head with the volatility of power markets and the unpredictability of energy forecasting, a domain where a model's output translates directly into commercial decisions. His academic background is unusually broad: top of his class in two Bachelor programs, Mathematics and Physics & Computer Science, and a recent MSc graduate in Artificial Intelligence. That mix, physics, mathematics, and machine learning, shapes how he approaches forecasting problems, and he has a declared weakness for capital markets.
